Michael Phillips came to Trinity Church as its Vicar on July 1, 2012, and moved into the rectory with his wife Sarah, and their golden retriever Freedom. He had served as rector of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Manhattan, for the previous seven and a half years, and before that, as rector of Christ Church, Poughkeepsie for ten.

Michael was raised in Texas, graduating from the University of Dallas with a major in philosophy and after two years of working in secular jobs, earned his Masters of Divinity degree from The Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California. He has served parishes In the Dioceses of Olympia, Chicago, and New York. In New York he served on the Hispanic Commission, Campus Ministry Committee, Advisory Committee of Episcopal Charities, and the Budget Committee. He currently chairs the Mid-Hudson Executive Committee and the Congregational Support Plan Committee, and is a Board member of the Rural and Migrant Ministry, an inter-faith, state-wide organization that addresses issues of empowerment and injustice in rural New York
